M62 Junction 12: Eccles, Salford, Manchester
M62 J12: Eccles Interchange is where the western section of the M62 ends. From here the M60 runs north and south, and the M602 carries on east through Eccles into the centre of Manchester. Coming from Liverpool, the M62 runs largely through rural areas until it reaches this junction, where the Manchester conurbation and its residential areas begin, east of the M60.
Carrying on east along the M62? The motorway doesn't continue from here under its own number. At Junction 12, join the M60 heading north and stay on it for about seven miles to Junction 18 of the M60 (Simister Interchange). There, take Junction 18 of the M62 and head north-east towards Rochdale, Leeds and Hull. This is why there are no M62 junctions 13 to 17: that stretch became part of the M60 ring road.
Worsley is about a mile north, with Patricroft, Peel Green and Winton beside the junction. The CorpAcq Stadium is about a mile south and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre about two miles south-east. Birchwood Interchange (J11) is about six miles south-west.
