M62 J22: Junction 22 is the M62's junction on the open Pennine moors, where the A672 Oldham Road and Ripponden Road cross the motorway. It is a sparse, hilly landscape of open moorland with almost no trees, few roads and no villages within a mile and a half, but dozens of reservoirs. About a mile north is Green Withens Reservoir, home to a water sports centre.
