M62 J31: Normanton Interchange is where the A655 Pontefract Road meets the motorway. Seen from above, it is a heavily industrial area, with large warehouses immediately north and immediately south of the M62. The town of Normanton, a little over a mile to the south-west, is the residential area serving them, with Hopetown and Whitwood also beside the junction.
Glasshoughton station is about two miles east and Racecourse Retail Park about three miles east. RSPB St Aidan's nature reserve lies about three miles north. Spire Methley Park Hospital is about two and a half miles north-west and Pinderfields Hospital about four miles west.
Rothwell Interchange (J30) is nearly three miles north-west; Castleford Interchange (J32) about two and a half miles east.
